Urban Alliance currently restricts all programs to residents of the District of Columbia.  UA has 4 main program areas, click on any one to learn more:
High School Internship Program

Urban Alliance's High School Internship Program is a city-wide youth employment program.  The program is open to DC public and charter school seniors who are eligible for a half-day schedule.  Students must apply to be in the program.  Once accepted, students:

  • Work part-time (paid) during the school year, Monday-Thursday, 2-5pm.  To find out where our students work, click here.
  • Attend life-skills and job readiness workshops on Friday during the school year.  Topics include conflict resolution, interview skills, professional writing, and work etiquette.
  • Receive college/career planning assistance.
  • Work full-time (paid) during the summer, Monday-Thursday.
  • Attend financial literacy workshops on Friday during the summer.
  • Open matched savings accounts, where they can save up to $1,000 matched at 3:1 ratio for a total of $4,000 for expenses.

By the end of the program, students will have:

  • Increased their exposure and proficiency in professional work skills.
  • Gained long-term professional work experience.
  • Graduated from high school.
  • Solidified a post-secondary plan to either attend college or a job training program.
  • Be capable of identifying and sustaining employment.

Baltimore City Schools  Internship Program

In the fall of 2008, Urban Alliance partnered with Baltimore City Schools to offer professional internships to Baltimore students

Urban Alliance's Baltimore City Schools Internship Program is being piloted as a youth employment program at two schools.  The program is currently open to seniors at Maritime Academy and Northwestern High school who are eligible for an internship credit.  Students must apply to be in the program.  Once accepted, students:

Health Alliance Program

 

We are no longer enrolling students for the Health Alliance Program.  We will not enroll participants ever again.

Alumni Services graduates of other programs with long-term support.  Services include but are not limited to:

  • Paid summer internships their first year out of high school
  • Resume and cover letter review
  • Financial aid and college transfer assistance
  • Job search and placement help
  • A customized, interactive website where they can connect with other alumni (coming soon)
