 Mentor Excellence Fund Scholarship

The Mentor Excellence Fund Scholarship  was established in 2005 by Urban Alliance as a scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior at the Annual Public Speaking Challenge in August.

The Fund is driven solely by donations from the dedicated individuals who mentor each student in our program.  100% of donations go straight to the scholarship recipient - Urban Alliance does not take out overhead costs for operating the fund.

Mentors who contribute to the fund any given year, also vote on the nominated students for who should be awarded the scholarship.

Janet Obi-Rapu

Janet, a graduate of Dunbar Senior High School in 2006, was the first recipient of the Mentor Excellence Fund Scholarship on August 11th, 2006.

Janet is currently pursuing a college degree in Criminal Justice in honor of her brother who was lost to street violence in 2005.
