Special Funds are donor established, and can be for a number of purposes. The donor can designate how the fund should benefit the organization (activities vs. general support vs. capacity building), but this purpose must be in line with Urban Alliance’s mission and goals. Types of Special Funds can include but are not limited to:

• Memorial Fund – in memory of someone
• Honorarium Fund – in celebration of an individual or event
• Challenge Fund – to spur other donations
• General Named Fund – a fund in the donor’s name

Special Funds can be time limited or ongoing, depending on the donor’s preference. Urban Alliance will track all donations made to the fund separate from general fundraising activities and provide the establishing donor a reoccurring update on the fund’s status.

Allie Plepler Bat Mitzvah Fund

Allie Plepler, the daughter of UA founder Andrew Plepler, decided to ask relatives to donate to Urban Alliance in honor of her Bat Mitzvah.

Alyssa Rosenberg Writers' Fund

Alyssa Rosenberg, an Atlantic Media employee and Urban Alliance volunteer, established this fund to support and further Urban Alliance’s writing programs and projects.

Juan & Zeljka Fund

Juan Jaysingh and Zeljka Radovic are a very special Washington, DC couple that have designated their wedding as a way to give back to the community.  They graciously asked friends and family to donate to Urban Alliance in lieu of gifts.
